Making Meals with Bart's Better Foods Plant-Based Ground 'Meat'
Try this fresh and healthy new ingredient in your kitchen.
Once our blends are made, they are frozen and delivered. This is farm-to-table food! We produce our food in small batches — and we MEAN small batch! Currently, Bart’s Better Foods is available in three main stores on Whidbey Island where we operate out of a commercial kitchen. Our second farmers market season begins this year (2019). We’re starting small and aim to maintain that level of quality as we grow.
Our vegan frozen food blends of vegetables, pulses and hemp seeds sold out week after week at our debut in the summer of 2018. I couldn’t believe the enthusiasm and was so grateful. THIS is the food I like to eat at home! I’ve always cooked in a Mediterranean style (minus the meat, fish, dairy and eggs in most recent years), and the blends embody that flavorful (and clean) complex simplicity.
Our blends are nutrient dense, low sodium, high in fiber and healthy fats, and local. Fats from the lentils and hemp seeds (not coconut oil, gums or flour like many vegan burgers) help bind our blends, making them easy to form into meatballs, patties, crumble or loaf.
What’s our aim? To make healthy vegan food that is pure and delicious. We are a waste free kitchen. Beet greens go to Whidbey Island Nourishes and beet skins to compost.
Your blends can keep in the fridge for up to a week. Freeze what you don’t use or keep in the freezer until you’re ready.
P.S. This winter (2019), we’re working on moving ourselves away from our startup packaging (plastic, BPA free, microwave safe containers) to freezer paper. In development now.
We’re on Treatmo App for quick shopping of local food. We start shipping our blends this January!
